Analysing The Content Of A Magazine
The content page is split into six sections which are: On The Cover, Features, Elle Edits, Beauty, Fashion and Travel. For "On The Cover" it talks about relatable topics such as "Can losing half a stone make you happy?" and "Style for less" which makes the reader question whether losing weight makes you happier or not and to go with that new weight loss fashionable clothing for a cheaper price.
"Elle Edits" is divided into fashion with "Elle loves it" "Style spy" and "Fashion notes" this again is appealing to women in there 20's who want to find out which clothes are popular by a repeatable source, the use of alliteration in "Style spy" adds to the mystery because spies often find things tha are protected and sealed away so the reader will feel like that Elle has some secret fashion trends to give the reader.
In "Features" we see "Elle daily" and "Elle Q&A" these are less exciting but they get straight to the point and are more generalised making it easier for the reader to understand what Elle wants to express. The repetition of the work "Elle" enforces the fact that these are Elle's ideas and they want everyone to know that this magazine is completely unique and different to others.
In the "Beauty" section we see "Tried and Tested" "Beauty hot-list" and "Beauty Insider". Tried and tested lets the reader know which products work and which don't like a friend would do, this makes the reader trust this magazine and keep coming back to it. the repetition of the word "beauty" suggests that what they have to talk about is the most beauty related and listed from the best to worst with in inside scoop of new beauty products.
"Fashion" is split into "The importance of clothes" and "Address book" which informs the reader that what they wear could be sending out mixed messages to other people with a guide on what clothes mean what so the reader can be informed how different articles of clothing can be perceived to others. the address book is a cute way of letting the reader know where they can purchase their clothing.
Lastly we get to "Travel" again using alliteration in "hot hotels" which is also word play because they are talking about destinations in hot countries, this makes the reader able to relate to the magazines goofy charm.
Overall the three main topics from the content are fashion, beauty and features so the ideology Elle is trying to promote is how to get the latest trends in fashion and how to keep up to date with new beauty products and celebrity's so you can emulate their lifestyles.
Planning: Magazines aimed at women in particular often go down the fashion route a lot which can get repetitive in such a big industry so you would think by now they would try and brancg out more but yet they still haven't.
