Emotive and Colloquial Language in Magazines
Asos's target audience are mainly young people aged between 15-30 years old who do most of their shopping online. The french used ("Ooh la la") on the front of the magazine is used because France has the connotations of being chic and fashion forward due to Paris fashion week. The adjectives "Fresh" and "Fun" are colloquial which means that the target audience will see this use of language and feel more inclined to read what else is inside this magazine. "Fresh,Fun,Fearless" the use of alliteration makes the reader focus on that particular section of text, the repetition of the "F" sound creates a mood of cleanliness with the opening of the word "Fresh" which is then emphasised by the flowers on the front cover, they often represent purity so they fit perfectly with the text. the fact that the magazine doesn't display much text speaks for its self because after all Asos is a fashion retailer so the focus is mo...
